Original item: Only One Available. This is a great Spanish American War Era 8th Infantry Regiment peaked visor hat in dark Navy Blue. Size is approximately 6 3/4 (54 cm). This example retains its original sweatband although the stitching is almost gone. There is no maker’s mark but the visor is in great shape overall with its original chinstrap still retained by the two gilt eagle buttons.
The 8th Infantry Regiment of the United States, also known as the "Fighting Eagles," is an infantry regiment in the United States Army. The 8th Infantry participated in the Mexican War, American Civil War, Philippine Insurrection, Moro Rebellion, World War I, World War II, Vietnam War, and Iraq Campaign.
This cap being a model of 1902 puts it in line with the Philippine Insurrection, which the 8th Infantry Regiment fought in during the early 1900’s.
The cap badge indicates Company I of the 8th Infantry Regiment. The chinstrap is in great shape and the cap has some moth nipping across but is overall in fair condition. Comes ready for further research and display.
